” I’m still hungry for victory, otherwise I would have already quit some time ago.”  said Valentina Vezzali.  AGI.it reported today that on Vezzali looking forward to resuming training on the path to the Rio Olympics  “On the contrary, I can’t wait to resume training and once again be able to feel that fantastic sensation of competition,” the Italian fencer stated.

Vezzali is the winner of 6 Olympic Gold Medals, including the team gold in 2012 where she also took the bronze medal.  She fell to teammate Arianna Errigo in the semi-finals en route to an Italian sweep of the women’s foil individual medals.

Vezzali plans to take the year off to have another baby, possibly a sister for her seven-year old son, and then resume training to go for another medal in Rio.

She’s done it before.  When her son Pietro was born, Vezzali then resumed training and stormed back onto the world fencing scene to win the world championships, all within 9 months of giving birth.
