Dagmara Wozniak entered seeded 12th and upset 5th seeded Bianco (ITA) 15-6. She lost in the round of 8 to 2008 Bronze Medalist Sophia Velikaya (RUS). This is Wozniak’s 3rd consecutive top-8 finish and she looks to be having a breakout season.
Other US finishes included Daria Schneider who finished in the top-32 after losing to Kormilitsyna (RUS). Other finishes included Muhammad (USA) – top 32 and Emily Jacobson who lost in the 64 to Italy’s Bianco.
The women compete tomorrow in the team event. The US team comes into this event ranked 4th in the world. They will look to continue the momentum from today’s strong results to break into the top-3.
