A recent poll by Fencing.Net has fencers predicting a repeat by 2009 NCAA Champions Penn State. Penn State received 51% of the vote followed by Notre Dame with 38%.

The teams with a full compliment of fencers include: Penn State, Notre Dame, St. John’s, Princeton, Harvard and Ohio State with 11 fencers.

On day one, each fencer will fence 14 5-touch bouts in round-robin format with bout wins earning each team a point. For this reason, the teams that have the full compliment of 12 fencers qualified have the best chance of winning the team championship. Day two includes a second round of round-robin pools with the top-4 fencers advancing to direct elimination bouts to 15 points to crown the individual champions.
