I received a note from the FIE (International Fencing Federation) regarding the efforts of one Olympian in the Tsunami relief efforts.
Willi Kothny, the sabre Thai Sabre Fencer (ex germany) and bronze medal winner from the Sydney Olympic Games is right now in Thailand in the area of Phuket to help to reconstruct the small village of Bahn Bang Sak, where 100 houses have been destroyed by the Tsunami.
With the help of Thai soldiers (the goverment gave him around 150 people) he will need help reconstructing houses for the homeless people.
Each house needs around 1.500 Euro of material. Will is on site since ten days. He interrupted his studies at the University of Bangkok, went straight to Phuket and helped there since the beginning. First he was trying to find survivors with the help of the German embassy and doctores from ISAR (International Search and rescue).
What he needs now is more money to buy the material for the houses. He is able to start tomorrow (friday) but still has not enough.
In his hometown Koblenz, Germany, Willi and his friends started a foundation, where until now around 40.000 Euro had been collected. But more money is needed and any help is welcome.
Name of the bank: Volksbank Mittelrhein eG Address: Rizzastraße 34 56068 Koblenz Allemagne Account: 120 7337 010 Ger Bank Code: 570 900 00 (BLZ) SWIFT Code: GENO DE 51 KOB
Thanks for any support and best regards
