Where: The nave of the Grand Palais

The Grand Palais is an historic monument located in the heart of Paris. Constructed over a century ago with a major program of refurbishment ongoing since 2008, the iconic building stages 40 events each year and hosts 2 million annual visitors.

The Nave of the building, where the events will take place, is 13,500 square meters (more than 145,000 square feet) and has the largest glass roof in Europe, creating the effect of an aerial vault.

Only two sports will be contested at this venue – fencing and taekwondo.

Fencing at the Olympics

The Olympics Paris 2024 officially start July 26, 2024 with the opening ceremony. Fencing has been a part of the Olympics since the first modern games in Athens in 1896. Tokyo 2020 marked the first Olympics where all 12 events were medal eligible and that continues in Paris 2024. The competitions will feature 212 athletes, including 102 men and 102 women, plus an additional six host country spots and two Universality places.
