Passing of a Champion: Janice Lee Romary

Janice Lee Romary six time Olympian in women’s foil fencing and first woman to carry the US flag in the Opening Ceremonies in 1968 passed away this afternoon in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

She competed as a fencer in six consecutive Olympics from 1948 through 1968.  She continued her service long after her competitive career ended, serving as commissioner of fencing for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
