Very soon the US Fencing Association will shutter the current web site at usfencing.org and direct traffic to the new site at fencing.teamusa.org. The move, expected to occur on January 1st comes after a great deal of planning and preparation. Craig Harkins of Fencing.Net spoke with Christine Simmons at the Colorado Springs NAC to get some of the details.
Here is the video overview of the new USFA web site:

The breakdown:
- Easier for the USFA staff to update
- All office staff trained, so someone at the office can always update!
- USOC has full time staff for tech support
- Better overall technology than current usfencing.org site
- The USOC provided funding for moving to the new platform
The questions:
- The Technology and Website Requirements task forces have just started up, so what role will they play in future direction?
- What new features will the USFA members really want and utilize?
- When will all of the existing information on the current usfencing site be fully moved to the new platform?
One other tidbit – there is some good news for the USFA on the horizon. I was asked not to disclose the actual info, but it is good for the USFA and will, hopefully, be announced sometime in January.
