NJ Girl Scout Creates Fencing Badge

Julie Kohn, Senior Girl Scout from Allendale and member of Troop 440 in Ramsey, conceived of an activity badge focused on fencing for the Girl Scouts. She had the Junior badge and Cadette/Senior Interest Project approved by the Girl Scout Council of Bergen County.

As part of the program Julie set up a free three-day fencing camp to enable scouts to earn the activity badge. The camp, called “Stick to the Point” helped fulfill the leadership pre-requisite for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, the highest award a Senior Girl Scout can earn.
