The Cobo Center in Detroit is hosting the US Fencing North American Tournament Cup D this weekend and through Monday. The tournament hasn’t been held in the city since 1994.
There are events for youth 13 and up, veterans 40 and up, and a wheelchair event as well. Veterans are competing for a chance to represent the US in the World Cup to be held in London next year.
Detroit fencing clubs hope the competition inspires more Michiganders to take part in the thrilling sport of fencing.
