Andrea Magro became the women’s foil coach for the Japanese Fencing Federation in January.

Oleg Mtseychuk will remain the Men’s Foil Coach in a squad that features 2008 Olympic silver medalist Yuki Ota.
In January, Tim Morehouse reported on Lukashenko’s retirement from competitive fencing to take a coaching position with Japan:
Saber World Champion Lukashenko of Ukraine has apparently called it a career after being offered a coaching job in Japan. He will apparently be the new head coach of the Japanese fencing team. He was one of the most feared fencers in the world from 2000-2009, finishing in the quarter-finals of the world championship just this past year in Turkey.
Japan is loading up the coaching talent leading up to the London Olympic Games in 2012. The Japanese have set a target of 5 medals for the 2012 Games.
