US Men’s Epee Team into Final vs. France

Update: The US Men’s Epee team defeated Hungary in the semi-finals to face France for the 2010 World Championship.

The US Men’s Epee team used a couple of great bouts from Ben Bratton to take an early lead over China and anchor Seth Kelsey held off China’s Guojie Li in a 13-16 final bout to notch the upset win 40-29 over the 5th ranked Chinese.

The US used that momentum to advance past Korea 39-35 in the quarter-final round.  Against Korea the US team of Cody Mattern, Ben Bratton, and Seth Kelsey kept the match score close, with the lead shifting several times between the teams.  Kelsey closed out the match with another big bout, a 14-11 victory over Seung Hwa Jung.

The US is facing Hungary in the semi-final match.  The other semi-final match features Russia vs. France.
