Virgin Islands Good Hope School starts fencing program
With a little help from the USVI Fencing and International Fencing federations, Good Hope School in Frederiksted has introduced the fast and skillful sport of fencing to its athletics program.

Lawrence, who will fence epee, is on the U.S. National Team. The World Championships will take place in October in Catania, Italy. She was a U.S. World Championship and National Team member in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She was named to the 2008 World Championship Team but did not fence due to injury.
Man Pleads Guilty in Dick Oles Death
According to the Baltimore Sun, the man who killed fencing coach Dick Oles pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Richard Francis Oles, a retired Johns Hopkins University fencing coach, died of injuries he sustained after being clipped by the plow while walking on Mountain Road in Pasadena.
Maximilian Hopkins Bode, 21, of Pasadena pleaded guilty Thursday to leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He could receive up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine when sentenced in November, when four other counts will be dropped.
