Five months ago doctors were telling Keeth Smart that his fencing career was likely over. Smart had contracted a rare blood disease from something in his food at a fencing tournament in Algeria and spent nearly two weeks in the hospital.
Now, the 30 year old leader of the US Men’s Sabre team looks to cap his fencing career with the one thing that has eluded him, an Olympic medal.
