In the January USFCA Fencing Coaches Poll, Notre Dame holds the top spot in both men’s and women’s collegiate fencing rankings. 2010 champions Penn State University were voted in as 2nd for women’s fencing while Harvard was voted 2nd for men’s.
At the most recent North American Cup event held by US Fencing, Notre Dame fencers Courtney Hurley and Ariel DeSmet earned medals in their respective events.
Harvard’s fencing team has already posted some big wins, including a 14-13 victory over defending NCAA champion Penn State.

The United States Fencing Coaches’ Association is a national academy of the Academie d’Armes Internationale, (AAI), the world organization of fencing masters. The USFCA is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and cooperates with the USA Fencing in the support of the development of American fencing.
