FIE Equipment Requirements for Foil in 2008

The FIE, at their Congress in Madrid on November 24-25, has changed the equipment requirements for Senior competitions in foil to require the transparent “visor” masks and wireless scoring system after January 1st, 2008.

As of January 1, 2008 - Wireless apparatus and masks with transparent visors will be mandatory in the following men’s and women’s foil competitions:

• Individual events: Grand Prix, World Championships, and Olympic
  Games - from the 32 forward
• Team Events at World Cups and World Championships from the top 4 or
  8 teams forward
• Team events at the Olympic Games - for the entire competition

The fie transparent masks are available from several leading fencing equipment suppliers.
