Willette wins Div I Men's Foil Event

David Willette lead the way for the M-Team at the North American Cup event in Dallas, TX. Members of the Massialas Foundation (M-Team) took gold, silver, and bronze in the Division I Men’s Foil Event on Friday afternoon. Willette defeated Alexander Massialas 15-14 in the final bout. They were joined on the podium by bronze medalists Turner Caldwell (also of the M-Team) and Ariel DeSmet (NWFC). Notes: In the round of 8 Alex Massialas defeated 2010 World Championships finalist Miles Chamley-Watson 15-12. Ariel DeSmet made the final 8 after entering the direct elimination table as the 43rd seed. Division I Men’s Foil: Top 8

Also held on Friday were events in Junior Men’s Sabre, Junior Women’s Epee, and Cadet Women’s Foil. Evan Prochniak won the Jr. Men’s Sabre event, defeating Will Spear 15-11. In the Jr. Women’s Epee event Katherine Holmes took home the gold after defeating Francesca Bassa 15-9. Cadet Women’s Foil was won by Mona Shaito who crushed Eleanor Harvey (CAN) 12-3 in the final.
