As a fairweather jogger and unenthused by the conveyor-belt feel of my busy gym, I realise it’s been weeks – no, months – since I last did any exercise, a situation that’s not likely to improve as days get shorter and colder. Daria Schneider Named Assistant Fencing Coach at Columbia University

Go Columbia Lions reports that Daria Schneider has taken a position as assistant coach for the Columbia Lions NCAA fencing team.

A 2010 Columbia graduate, Schneider made the U.S. senior national team during her senior year, finished 15th at World Championships and was ranked 13th in the world earlier this summer.  She coached part time at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx for the past five years.

Schneider won the NCAA Women’s Sabre championship in 2007 and is a two time NCAA 1st team All-American.  She will look to inspire and lead the Lions when their NCAA season starts in January.
