Karate gets Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.  Baseball gets Ray Liotta.  Basketball gets Michael Jordan (Space Jam) or Gene Hackman (Hoosiers).  Fencing?  We get Eric Roberts and By the Sword.

    The Duelists – 1977
Director Ridley Scott (one of his first)

Starring Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel as two Napoleonic French army officers who carry a grudge against each other resulting in repeated duels of honor over the next 15 years. Bit of a grim film, but beautifully shot, and featuring a lot of good swordplay scenes.

Way out in front (for me) is:
    On Guard 1997 copyright
    Director Philippe de Broca
Daniel Auteuil & Fabrice Luchini star in this classic story, based on the novel “Le Bossu” by Paul Favel. The fencing is well done and even has the “secret” technique.
