Diatchenko won this weekend's world cup.

Ekaterina Diatchenko (RUS) notched a gold medal win in the first 2012 Olympic Qualifying world cup.  She defeated Poland’s Aleksandra Socha 15-14 in the finals.  Olga Kharlan (UKR) and Azza Besbes (TUN) shared 3rd.

Mariel Zagunis (USA) won her first two elimination matches against Varhelyi (HUN) 15-7 and Danilova (RUS) 15-9 before facing Korea’s Ji Yeon Kim in the round of 16.  Kim won the match 15-10 and then lost in the 8 to Besbes 15-14.  Zagunis placed 9th.

Ibtihaj Muhammad (USA) won her first match 15-11 against Viktoriya Kovalena (RUS) before losing in the 32 to Irene Di Transo (ITA) 15-11.  The other US fencers lost their matches in the top-64.  Dagmara Wozniak lost in a 15-14 match against Bianca Pascu (ROU).  Monica Aksimit lost 15-12 to Leonore Perrus (FRA).
